overview
The design PR counter is an internal app for celebrating designers shipping code. The team paired a shared pull request count with music, personal contribution pages, and a feed of the work behind the number.
My main role was mentorship. I also took on the data pipeline, personal pages, feed, analytics, and interaction details. Other teammates established the original app and WebGL direction, then kept shaping the graphics, motion, and charts.
behind the count
I owned the data pipeline behind the count. I wrote the Snowflake queries, connected employee identities to GitHub accounts, and turned exports into app-ready JSON.
Refresh was the risky part. New PRs had to come in without stripping the messages people had attached to older contributions. The import scripts preserved those messages, kept PR titles and repositories attached, and added new contributors to the identity map.
The browser never queried Snowflake directly. It read the generated JSON, which kept the demo simple and the internal data boundary clear. Teammates later improved the import workflow and took over updates.
joining the build
I built the first personal and shareable PR pages so the count resolved back to people and their work. I developed the searchable feed and homepage timeline, then built the first analytics dashboard across activity, growth, and repositories. The team redesigned those charts as the app evolved.
I also worked on the tactile layer. The counter needed to feel played, not just watched, so I added press-and-hold distortion, release ripples, audio-reactive experiments, and touch scrolling and snapping on the personal pages.
showing the work
Names, repositories, and messages in these examples are stand-ins. The internal contribution data stays off this page.
